Kindr LA (operated by Author on Location LLC) connects Los Angeles residents with help — for homelessness, animal welfare, safety hazards, and neighborhood blight. This page explains what information we collect and how we use it, in plain language.
What we collect
- If you text our HELP line (1-888-546-3795): your phone number and the content of your messages.
- If you use our website or report forms: information you choose to submit, such as a location, description, or photo of an issue you’re reporting.
- Basic site usage data (like pages visited), collected automatically by standard website tools.
We only collect what we need to connect you with help or route your report to the right place.
What we don’t do
- We don’t sell your information. Ever.
- We don’t use your information for advertising.
- We don’t share your information with anyone except where this policy says we do.
How we use your information
- To respond to your text messages and connect you with relevant resources.
- To route safety, animal welfare, or blight reports to the appropriate city systems or partners.
- To improve how Kindr LA works, using aggregated or anonymized information where possible.
Who we share it with
- Service providers who help us operate (for example, Twilio for text messaging, and Make.com for message automation). They only use your information to help deliver our service.
- City agencies or partner organizations, only when necessary to act on a report you submitted (for example, forwarding a fire hydrant hazard report to the relevant department).
We do not share your information for marketing purposes, and we never sell it.

- Texting our HELP line is free to use — Kindr LA does not charge for this service.
Data retention
We keep information only as long as needed to provide help, respond to reports, or meet legal requirements, and we delete it when it’s no longer needed for those purposes.
Your choices
You can stop texting us at any time by replying STOP. If you have questions about your information or want it removed, contact us at the email below.
Children’s privacy
Kindr LA’s services are intended for general public use and are not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we’ll update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of Kindr LA after changes means you accept the updated policy.
